Kristen has eight years of accounting experience and is a Senior Manager in BPM’s Walnut Creek office. Before BPM, she worked as an auditor for five years in Los Angeles and helped primarily nonprofit and private company clients.
After joining BPM in November 2015 as a member of the Business Enterprise Services Team (BEST), she has helped a wide range of clients, primarily nonprofits. Kristen typically helps smaller nonprofits with their day-to-day back office accounting, as well as audit readiness. She also facilitates and assists with the implementation of technology solutions for nonprofit and real estate clients, to help increase efficiency in their daily accounting and month-end process. When Kristen meets with a new client, she makes it a focus to understand their current processes and works with them to figure out effective solutions, as many times the accounting piece is overlooked by management. She works closely with all of her clients to ensure their needs and goals are being met, so they can better present themselves and have more intentional conversations with their board and other financial statement users.
Recently, Kristen reviewed and improved the investment reconciliation process for a client that services more than 30 private foundations by adding more automation within their Excel workbook. Since adopting the workbook, she improved upon and applied it to all of the foundations they service, and the client now saves around three hours of work per foundation, per month.
She takes pride in her ability to form close relationships with clients and to be one of the first people they turn to answer any accounting questions.
